Embroidery, canvas tapestry, lace work or other needleworks are usually seen as minor practices in the history of art. And yet, these techniques follow a similar process of recovering an artistic medium, in that sense are very much akin to painting.
They have been despised, perceived as delicate and useless. A lack of recognition due to a partriarcal culture that looks down on art forms carried on exclusively by women. Covering an artistic medium and covering of the body are practices that respond to each other.
